Navigating the Arizona ALTCS Program
Navigating ALTCS
ALTCS, meaning Arizona Long Term Care (the title is somewhat redundant), but the scope of the program is large. Whether you are looking for at-home care for yourself or a loved one, or you are looking for assisted living, ALTCS is Arizona’s long term care medicaid program. The application process can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months and the application speed primarily depends upon whether or not the applicant has all their materials in-hand. It is important to have current bank records, medical records, a birth certificate, social security card, documentation of all conditions, and receipts of money spent on healthcare purchases. Once you have these things together (we would be more than happy to discuss the specifics at any time – give us a call), you are on your way to getting yourself or a loved one qualified.
Apply for ALTCS as soon as your Realize the Need
The most important part of the application is making sure to apply as soon as you realize the need; even better if you apply before the situation turns serious. The ALTCS (Arizona Long Term Care) program will accept those that are unable to live on their own and/or need assistance with the activities of daily living, also known as the ADLs. This can mean difficulty with cooking, cleaning, showering/bathing, getting dressed, taking meds, having a risk of falling, or other diagnosed conditions that interfere with an individual’s ability to perform their ADLs.
